You should be very selective when finding a cosmetic tattooist. They should have insurance and have professional experience and training.
At Ink Glam you are looked after by an experienced make-up artist (6 years experience) who thoroughly understands the dimensions, proportions and functions of all facial features. Your comfort both physically and mentally is very important and I aim to make the session pleasant, interesting and rewarding. Most clients find it exciting and leave feeling amazing.
My salon is sterile and all instruments (needles, casings, wipes, containers) used are disposable. Feel free to inspect the workbench prior to the procedure to gain assurance you are being treated in a clean and safe area. Your health and piece of mind is important to me and my aim is for you to enjoy the experience.
No. Cosmetic tattoo is only penetrating under the top layers of skin (epidermis), the pigments are not injected as deep as a body tattoo. A much finer needle is also used and you are only working on a very small area so the pain is much more tolerable. Anaesthetics are used during the procedure that make a big difference and lessen the pain, swelling and any bleeding that may occur.
Everyone has a different response and tolerance for pain or discomfort so it cannot be generalised. Most people find the first 'pass' of the needle (before the main anaesthetic is applied) stings a little bit but gets a lot better after the first few minutes. Some don't mind it at all but I make sure all clients are comfortable and find the procedure as pleasant as possible. It usually is no were near as bad as expected.
No, at most you may have a tiny bit of swelling but this will not look obvious to others. Follow simple after care instructions, avoid water on area, apply bepanthan and do not pick at the area as it dries after 4-5 days. The tattoo (ie. eyebrows, lips and liner) may look a bit wet and the colour will be a lot stronger for the first week, but after it sheds it will settle and look more natural.
In the first session we try to get as much pigment and definition in the area but it does require a follow up treatment to perfect the shape and go over any areas that may have not taken as well and even it out perfectly. All skin types are different. Some hold brilliantly after one but some clients may need 1 or 2 touch-ups to really define the tattoo.
Again every skin type is different and it can also depend on lifestyle, aftercare and sun exposure. Some hold the tattoo for 10+ years whilst some find they like theirs refreshed and re-done every 18 months to keep it fresh and defined.
All clients who come to Ink Glam are to sign a Indemnity Form which outlines any health issues, allergies etc.… If you are on any regular medication please consult your doctor prior to your appointment. Cold sore sufferers should consult me about a pre procedure treatment and glaucoma suffers should never consider any eyeliner tattooing.
As a general rule, if you have any health concerns please consult your doctor and make sure to mention at time of appointment.
Yes I can refresh your old tattoo, and improve it.
